The Newcomer Thunder Point Robyn Carr 9780778314523 Books
I have read every book that Robyn Carr has ever written and loved them, couldn't wait for the next book. What has she done? This series is a poor excuse for her talent. When I started this new series I was sad that the Virgin River series had come a end. The first book in the Thunder Point series( The Wander ) was good not as good as Virgin River books, but I was willing to give them a try. What a shock I got with the Newcomer. Is she writing for teenagers now? I thought this book would deal with Mac and Gina's relationship and advancing Cooper and Sarah's relationship to a happy ending. What it did deal with was Ashly's teenage heart break. The story line for Cooper, Sarah, Mac, and Gina was poorly developed. I had to force myself to read the whole book. I do not realy want to read the next one in the series, The Hero, but I pre-ordered it. This is another problem as Amazon is not shipping it until Sept..I could have bought this book sooner in the store. I think I will have to put Robyn Carr on a do not read list.Tags : The Newcomer (Thunder Point) [Robyn Carr] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Newcomer Thunder Point Robyn Carr 9780778314523 Books Reviews
I made the mistake of reading this book in the Thunder Point series first. Definitely a mistake. It is essentially a continuation of The Wanderer which is about the same hero(es). I think I would have enjoyed this a lot more had I known that it was essentially a very long epilogue (and there are still a few unanswered questions left hanging which presumably will be answered in the next installment,) with some tips on how to handle teenager problems thrown in. Another reviewer referred to the "PSA"s -- it was definitely heavy handed on that front. That said, it was well written but readers should know going in that it is not a romance novel in the sense that there was no one finding their way through the rocky twists and turns of fate to find love and happiness. The characters had already found their mates (I gather that all took place in The Wanderer) and this was a continuation of their story; the stuff that happens after the HEA. It was well written and it makes you want to go to Thunder Point but read the first book in the series first cause otherwise this one falls a bit flat.
I love Robyn Carr so much that I don't even have to think twice about whether or not to download one of her books. I always know that when I do.... I'll be thoroughly entertained and very satisfied. She has never disappointed me in the past, and she hasn't disappointed me now, either. Robyn Carr has that magical touch that draws you in right from the beginning and keeps you glued to your seat until the very end. I love the way she, so effortlessly I might add, is able to weave several different stories together in the same book. In this book she touches on several different issues, including how to go about handling teenage depression, how to blend two families into one, and how to deal with meeting a elusive father for the first time ever. She also takes on the issues of the effects it has on your children, when one parent decides to abandon them for years, and also the reaction they have when she suddenly reappears again 10 years later. It also touches on a person trying to decide on their career, verses the loved ones that those choices will effect if they put their career ahead of the loved ones that could be torn apart by their decisions. I loved every single thing about this book, including the fact that we get a glimpse of the characters from the past, too.
Would I recommend this book? You better believe I would, in a heart beat!!!!
This book continues the Thunder Point series with lots of twists, turns, and surprises. Cooper really steps up and faces everything with class and heart. It was encouraging to read about Ashley going through what she did, with her mom being proactive and paying attention. Sarah waffles a bit too much in this book. Austin and Spencer were a great addition. Overall, a nice continuation of the series.
While Coop and Sarah's relationship continues to grow, in The Newcomer we delve more deeply into the stumbling attraction between Mac and Gina. Meanwhile, Gina's daughter Ashley's romance with Downey hits the skids, and Ashley has an emotional meltdown. Several other tangled relationships between Thunder Point locals weave through the story as well, providing hints of future novels in this series.
I liked the continuity of development of secondary characters from The Wanderer into the lead players in The Newcomer. One of the best things about series books is the way a sense of community or extended family that the reader feels as they go from one
book to the next one. This also allows the author to develop the characters more deeply, and makes the circumstances more real.
If you haven't already read The Wanderer, you can still enjoy The Newcomer; Ms Carr includes enough background for the reader to have a feel for the players from the earlier book. However, I think that each successive book will be enjoyed more if you have already read the previous one.
Robyn Carr is amazing and remarkable. I lost alot of sleep reading this Thunder Point just like with Virgin River. I hope it goes as long, I feel I am right there in Thunder Point. The scenes being described in the stories are incredibly breathe taking through my imagination as I read. I have to keep reading to try and find a place to stop and it got harder to find,so I just kept reading and it is worth it.
The sheriff yummy pants and Cooper had alot going on in this book. Girls you have to read this after the Wanderer, you will love the women and girls in this book.
This town is so comfortable and connected with love for neighbors and friends in times of need. It really does the heart good for all the ugly in the world, you can read this and it takes you away for awhile. This book gets you mad, angry and sad but happy then laugh out loud where you have people looking at you while you are reading it is cool.
GOTTA READ THIS GIRLS, WON,T BE DISAPPOINTED!
